I couldn't help it....

Peeks. Ya know when you create something and then you do a small little peek of it?
That's what this is....

Because peeks are so much fun! Almost as fun as scrappin'!
And I've got 2 more layouts on my desk waiting to be journaled, then photographed!
Scrappin' is so much fun!!!

What have you been scrapping lately?

Hi there!

How are all my bloggy friends?
As I sit here in the early morning hours on Sunday I am reminded that no matter near or far, we have friends. I am thankful of that and of you!

It's a dreary day and I am fighting a nasty, horribly cold. Been pumping myself with meds so that I can get better quick! I feel okay for the majority of the day but towards the evening I start to really feel awful. I sound horrible when I talk so its a good thing this blog isn't live! LOL.

Since we weren't using another chest-a-drawers we thought a chair might be nice in our room. There were several that we really liked, however I didn't want to spend the money. The cheapest one we saw that we liked was 200 bucks. Well if you know me and how cheap I am, that wasn't going to work. So I went on Craig's list. I found a chair that was close by for only 20 bucks. It was pretty run down and had the ugliest cushions ever! Went to JoAnn's and to get some paint and viola!
Sorry about the lighting, it's horrible outside so I had to use the overhead.
Isn't it cute! We love it. I tell ya, its coming along so nicely!

Grateful list this week:

1. When I share things with Dayv and he doesn't laugh at them no matter how silly they might be or sound.
2. I got 3 very nice compliments about me and working. 2 of them said I was very friendly and made a wonderful drink and 1 other lady was recommended to come in because I made good drinks! Isn't that great? We almost always hear the negative, but never the positive! So this made my day. Thank you wonderful Starbucks customers!
3. Scrapping.
4. Pulling together as a family.
5. Being married almost 15 years and having Dayv and I sometimes thinking the same things. When you know and love someone as much as we do, its amazing to see this happen even after all these years.
6. I am very thankful for my job.
7. How happy my dogs are always to see us. No matter if we're gone for 5 minutes or 4 hours.
8. Admitting where I am faltering and being able to see it so that the Lord can work on me continually. After all being clay means that we are constantly taking shape.
9. Friendships that stand the test of time.
10. Long. Hot. Showers. Enough said.
11. The way in which the Lord speaks to me is not necessarily the way he speaks to someone else, but it is in the speaking that we must respond.

Okay friends. I am off to visit my friend and her church today! You feel better if you are under the weather and I will too! If you are peachy and feelin' great, I hope your Sunday reminds you of when you were a kid and how much the weekends were fun!

The special evening.

I wanted to share our special evening with you guys.
I had no idea what to expect, other than to bring a really nice dress and look pretty!
Well with dress in hand, shoes, and a cute matching purse I was most ready for whatever adventure lay ahead for us on this special night!
It was exciting not really knowing what we were doing and what D had planned.

We came back from our excursion to the light house and shopping to hang out and play backgammon. We wanted to relax and hang out before our special night. Only we didn't really pay attention to the time, so when I finally asked D what time it was, we were in full flurry to get ready! LOL. So typical us. I leaped up and started to get ready and he went into the bedroom to get his suit out.

He comes into the bathroom and asks me where is his white button down shirt. I tell him I don't know and he immediately goes into a panic. Because he forgot it. We had 30 minutes by this point to get to the special event. 30 minutes.
The interesting thing to note here, and I feel I must share because normally the tables would be turned is that D freaked out! He simply panicked and I didn't! LOL. So he looks all over for it and can't find it, and finally goes into town to see if they didn't have something for him to wear.
While he was gone, I calmly put on my makeup, did my hair and figured if our evening was spoiled that we could at least get dressed up semi and go into town into one of the smaller quaint places to eat if need be. Basically a plan B.
He texts me, which I don't get because I am busy getting ready and comes rushing back in with a shirt.
Now mind you, I have to share with you that he went to 2 stores in town and both of them told him to go to a bigger town to get his shirt! He was frantic!! He didn't have the time to do that...
So here he is with this shirt.
Which looks nice on him. The funniest thing is the poor guy's story. The first store didn't have a shirt, so she directed him to another one that might have one. They had 3. One was gray striped, one was black/red diamonds, and this floral printed white one. Luckily it was an XL, which was a tad big, but worked. The shirt was 90 bucks. Yep. 90 bucks. But luckily marked down to 60 then 40 something. He even got a little bit more of a discount because he is military!
So in he rushes and by this time I am ready. He tells me his entire story while he's getting dressed and we leave.
As you know, we end up at the Stephanie Inn. A beautiful restaurant. A 5 course dinner. Pretty romantic since we've never done something like this at all! Of course we were the most dressed up, so people were staring, but it was okay!!! Our dinner was a vegetarian delight as I wrote in another post.
Now mind you, I grew up with a grandmother that felt like all the grandchildren needed to know the finer things in life. So in the event that I was sitting at a table like I was on this night, I'd know what to do. The table was set to a tee. And for the life of me, even though I knew I panicked. I couldn't remember if we used the silverware from the outside in, or inside out. So I will admit to you, I called me aunt for a refresher. I knew it as soon as she said it and D had even guessed it right! LOL. So with that we ate our lovely meal with each course getting better and better.
Well I didn't know he had something else planned after dinner and he seemed in a hurry towards the end. He finally asks one of the hostess' to speed it up a little in the nicest way possible and she does, what a lovely girl! We rush out of there and head to the local theater in town. Well we were late.
So we go to the front window and she said they already took the tickets to the back, so we had to go into the side door. Strange, but we walked quickly.
Came around and ended up meeting a nice woman who gave us the tickets and led us in.
Well because I wasn't sure what we were getting ourselves into, I just walked straight in.
Only to realize we were the very last people there and the play was about to start!!!
The play was A Talent For Murder.
Put on by a small production company.
As we were walking in I realized hey, everyone is looking at us because not only are we late, but Dayv leans in as we're walking and says, I think they think we're part of the play. Sure enough, that is really what I think everyone was thinking too!!! Here we are all dressed up to the nine's the play is about to start and no one really knows who we are.
We sit and get situated and the play starts!
How funny this is to us and we chuckle!
It was a great play. Funny and witty.
We came back and tried to take photos {we didn't have enough time beforehand as you know!}
and these are the one's we got {which aren't very good, but hey what can you do!}
It was a magical, fun, romantic night and the most perfect part was Dayv planning the entire surprise!!!

Cape Meares Lighthouse

Aside from walking the strip of shops {which I didn't get any photos of because at the times we walked it, it was pouring down raining. Too wet to take photos} we went to see the Cape Meares Lighthouse.
The rain was so bad here as you can tell with my facial expression! But we had a good time none the less! The lighthouse was pretty small and we thought we could go into it, only to open the door inside of it and walked into a gift shop! We got a good laugh at that! It was beautiful there though.
After we left there, we went to a bunch of antique stores which I did not take any photos in because I was too busy looking at things {each store was massive and there was so much to look at!} I did buy a cake plate, the exact one I was looking for and I bought milk glass to hold my jewelery, which I am stoked about!
Dayv bought a belt at this thrift store
and I took a photo this store because the older lady inside was priceless. And because D thought he forgot a black belt to wear for our special date night. In the end he didn't but I took a photo of this place because the dear old woman inside. She was a volunteer and bless her heart explained the store and its purpose to us. Dayv didn't have any cash on him and another lady told him to just take the belt. But we walked til we found an ATM and came back and bought the belt.

Even though it rained a lot and hard during this time frame it was cool to go on an excursion!

Just talkin'

It was good to get back to work.
I really like my job. I went in early on Tuesday because I knew
it needed the Elizabeth touch. I cleaned for a straight hour.
I work so much better when its clean the way I like it!

A is ill. Seems everyone around me is, I am prayerful I don't get sick.

I have been scrapping. I can't show any of them though.
I know bummer. But I am taking full advantage of our recent trip
and the photos we took! Since I've got new DT's and GDT's I am
a busy girl scrapping and it feels wonderful!
But be on the lookout starting in October!!

Having Dayv home on leave makes it hard to go to work!
And our lives aren't in a "normal" routine because of it, but I would not
complain for the world. It makes me rather lazy though
because I want to spend all of my time with him
and while that's a good thing and he loves it,
we've got stuff to do!!!! LOL.

Speaking of Dayv, he's been eating vegan with us
and will for another month. So far he's really loved everything I've cooked up
and hasn't missed meat, dairy, eggs one bit!

I've been listening to these 2 CD's non-stop
I love both CD's a lot!
You should check them out!

I am ready for fall. There I said it. But
we were out there mowing, weeding, and do the yard the other day because the weather was beautiful! We need to weed it
one more time before winter comes.

We are close to finishing our bedroom. I am ready to finish it.
We bought our new bed last night and decided on this one
Came home and put it together and its starting to feel
more like a cozy bedroom instead of a hotel room!
We love it. Bought a bench seat to go in front of the bed, totally awesome!
Now that we've gotten the bed in there we realize that we'll
only be able to have one chest-a-drawers. But that's a
good thing because we didn't buy it yet!
That's coming soon!
Then after that we're building a closet organizer
thingy for our closet and in our bathroom.

I also need a new cell phone and don't want to drop the money
on one. I am eligible for an upgrade in April.
Doesn't that seem far away? But I'll work it until then because
that means a free phone as opposed to dropping dollars I could
spend some where else.

Have a great Friday!

The food.

You know what makes a great trip?
Not only does company, laughter, and fun but food.
Yeppers food.
Ya know what I'm talking about. Ya go on vacation
and the food is horrible. It puts a damper on your vacation.
But going on vacation and having really
great food makes it all that much more
enjoyable!!!
We ate the best food as I said. I took a photo at every single place
we dined.
We also split every single meal because it was enough.
The very first night we were going to eat at a vegan place, only to
realize it wasn't opened right yet when we wanted to eat.
It had been already a long day
and we were tired, soaked and hungry.
So we opted for pizza.
Interestingly enough they had
wonderful choices of vegetarian pizzas.
We chose to do pizza by the slice and got a vegetarian pizza with artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, basil, and mozzarella cheese.
Seriously when I say this, it was the best piece of pizza I have ever eaten. We got another 2 slices to take for later since we were eating a little early. This pizza was top-notch. The place was a small and quaint with a wonderful atmosphere.

The second place we ate at was for breakfast. We decided on Pig'N Pancake. We weren't sure what to expect, but realized soon after we sat down that we were in for a treat. We had pancakes, fruit, tea and coffee. After there we left and went into another town about an hour away. We went to a lighthouse and saw that and then back into another town to antique shop and find some lunch. he coolest part about all of this is that these towns didn't have your typical places to eat that we are accustomed too. They had local eaters, which was really nice! s place was called The Blue Moon. Another hole in the wall place with great food! We split a veggie sandwich, had some chips and a soda. Then for dessert we had the best carrot cake I think either of us had eaten! Yummy!!!
Later that night we got all dressed up and ready to go for the biggest surprise of all. Dayv had surprised me with a 5 course meal at a very wonderful inn called Stephanie Inn.
A complete and utter surprise and completely worth it. We were lucky enough to get a vegetarian meal. The first course was a wonderful salad with wheat bread. We also picked out an organic wine that tasted delectable. The second course was a lovely tomato basil brusque soup.  This soup really couldn't be call soup actually. It was that good! Oh my goodness! So very good! For our entree' and third course we had stuffed tomato with quinoa and seasonings. I can't describe that beauty of this dish... It was amazing. I mean amazing! The last and final dish was dessert. We had creme' brulee with chocolate covered strawberries on the side. Which of course was incredible! All of it actually was incredible.
We ate here on the third day for breakfast prior to leaving Oregon. This place had such charm! It was decorated well, the service was good, it wasn't crowded at all, and the food was good too. There was a lot of it! I really liked this town again because of its small charm but also because of how quaint it was.
If you are ever in the Cannon Beach or surrounding areas, try out any if not all of these wonderful places to eat because it is totally worth it!

The drive.

The drive up was very good. Like I said we had music that I just bought to take with us. All the CD's were great and we talked a lot. Dayv doesn't normally do very well in the car. He's one of those kinds of people that think that vacation starts the minute you get to your destination, not driving to it. So we talked weeks prior about him enjoying the process and I must admit, he did splendidly! We listened to music, talked, and stopped whenever we felt like it too.

One part of our trip was spent on the side of the road... We were driving laughing when all the sudden I noticed something in the road, a large green bag. Kinda like a military bag. Dayv sees it too and tries to drive under it straight without the tires hitting it, only to as we went under it, it hit our drive shaft split open and when we finally pulled over after hearing the awful noise realized that clothing had gotten stuck on the drive shaft. A motorcyclist stopped behind us to inform us that our other bag had fallen off miles ago as well. Well of course it wasn't our bag. Next thing we know a couple of girls in socked-feet came running down the road. They were helping a friend move and apparently hadn't secured the bags well enough. I thought for sure that our jeep was going to fall apart the noise was so bad, but Dayv managed to get all the clothing off of the drive shaft and we were off again! Later that drive however, we heard the windshield splat with the sounds of a rock. We both scoped it out and didn't see anything, but realized 2 days later that something did in fact hit it and our window now has a wonderful crack on the drivers side. But the jeep, Betsy did a fantastic job!

These windmills were everywhere and so beautiful!

We stopped off at Multnomah Falls.
A beautiful water fall coming from the mountains! Breathtaking actually. There was this guy that took his kayak in and we watched him and took this photo. Dayv also took photos of me in front of it, only he made me laugh through every single one of them!!!! But it was good times!
And seriously. It rained the entire time. We thought for sure we'd have wonderful weather, only to pass the Cascade's and it start lightly raining. It rained the entire time both hard and soft and it went in every single direction too, weird rain. But it didn't stop us from having a really good time.

Cannon Beach

The weather was wet, rainy, windy, and interesting all rolled into one as I said. The very first thing the next day we arrived we went out to the beach. It was so awful, we only stood at the tip of where the properties were and took photos. However, later that afternoon since we had been out in it already all day we decided to just brave it and just be. So we went out and were the only one's out there and ran, laughed, jumped, and played for about 45 minutes on the beach.
We just figured that's why we were there, to have fun!

I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it....

Taken from one of my very favorite movies, Elf.
Our vacation was simply put in one word, magical.
Describing and keeping it short is hard because there were SO many areas that were so very special, fun, and meaningful.
Oregon is beautiful. Very green and small towns. I liked that the best because that meant local merchants and business people.  A very nice touch.
Every. Single. Meal we had was incredible.
The best night was the dressed up night and the play. A-mazing!
We laughed a lot.
Got a lot of rain in our faces and all over our bodies. Once we passed the Cascades, it rained the entire time we were there.
We sipped the local wine.
Walked for hours.
The drive up was lovely. We listened to new music that I bought, stopped whenever to take photos and talked a lot.
Saw the most beautiful scenery and rocks in the ocean, ever.
Played lots of backgammon, pass the pigs, and yahtzee.
Cannon Beach is a very quaint place. Which wasn't overly crowded since the time frame we went. That was nice.
We'll go there again because Oregon was simply breathtaking.
Dayv you did such an amazing job with this trip and I will never forget it, I love you so very much!
